Barwon Heads
CloseA home adapting with its inhabitants. Celebrating coastal conditions.

A ‘forever’ home that will adapt as its family of five changes and grows, the bright and breezy Barwon Heads Residence is designed to celebrate the elements of its beachside location.
Just a short stroll from Barwon Head’s rugged 13th Beach and immersed within an established coastal garden, the house’s organic rammed earth walls and curved timber-batten cladding will weather over time and further embed the home in its location.

The striking curved form is both a nod to the environment and a design response to the site’s orientation and relationship to neighbouring properties.
Zoned to accommodate all generations, the kitchen and dining areas form the heart of the home as a way to anchor the spaces and give the family the opportunity to come together. A natural, earthy and warm palette, windows overlooking the garden and cross-ventilation drawing in the light ocean breeze comprise a decidedly contemporary interpretation of the traditional beach house.

A guest wing and games room are strategically separated from the main living areas, with all bedrooms located upstairs. The second storey also includes a home office and gym with views out through the curved façade.
